Comic Book Artists Appearing At Local Comic Shop

If you don’t know already, I am an artist and what attracted me to comic books and collecting them was the art! I’ve caught wind of two really great artists – Joe and Adam Kubert who will be at one of New York City’s best comic shops coming up the 14th (Hey! That’s tomorrow).

Jim Hanley?s Store Front
Here is the storefront for Jim Hanley’s Universe in NY City

What will they be there for?

Joe Kuberts Tor #1Joe will be signing his newest comic Tor #1 (shown to the left). Adam Kubert will be there to promote Action Comics Annual #11. If anyone is in the New York area reading this, I would love a signed copy of Tor #1 by Joe (I’ll pay for your trouble) – just comment to this post and let me know.

Joe Kubert is a well known comic book artist in the industry as well as in teaching how to draw, ink, color, comic book characters and villains through a web site called Kuberts World. Get more detail on Joe Kubert here and here.

If any of you attend the signing, enjoy the time there being around a stalwart of the industry – and give us some feedback on how it went. That’s it for now.

P.S. Keep checking back as I will be putting up a review of Dave Giebers ebook soon.

Comic Book Collecing – A Starting Point – REVIEW

Hello comic collectors,

Well, I’ve been away for a couple of days as Mothers Day just passed and have been busy working on some things behind the scenes. This will be a short post though, but I just wanted to let you know that my friend Dave Gieber, a fellow comic book collector has allowed me to review his e-book on starting a comic book collection.

This will be the first review of a product that is related to comic book collecting. Look for that review soon and I would appreciate it if you would give Dave’s site a look as he has some great information there for you.

Also, another experienced comic collector, Sean, has allowed me to review his awesome comic book investing program. I am going through his information now, and I am excited about this, but will hold back on revealing anything until I’m done looking it over.

I’m doing this as a service for you my viewers to bring you the best information out there related to comic book collecting, investing, buying and selling. If I wouldn’t buy it, I won’t recommend it. Fair enough? Talk soon.

Does Everything Marvel Touch Turn To Gold?

May 8th, 2008 by Comic Book Collecting

ironmanpubjAtleast this time it did! Iron Man racked up more than 100 Million dollars in it’s opening weekend and will most likely bring in more as the summer moves on. Iron Man is Marvels first take at a movie adaptation of a comic book and released exclusively by Paramount Pictures.

So, it “seems” that to the comic book collecting world that the 2008 Summer movies are starting off with a bang. Some inside news though (thanks to comicbooksecrets.com) – Iron Man is slotted for a second movie along with a variety of other comic book movies. Here is what is coming out in the next couple of years:

  • Iron Man 2 – slotted for April 10, 2010
  • Thor – June 4, 2010
  • The First Avenger: Captain America – May 6, 2011
  • The Avengers – July 2011

Why the highlighting of Avengers?

I asked a question at the end of my last post whether anyone thought that Marvel should come out with an Avengers movie – well it looks like I have the answer to my question. So, yes, it looks like Marvel has found another pot o’ gold in them thar movies, as long as Marvel Comics does just as well with those movies as they have done with Iron Man. Time will tell.

One more last surprise – it seems that there isn’t another X-Men movie coming out BUT there will be a Origins: Wolverine movie (slated for May 1, 2009) with none other than Hugh Jackman! You can read the interview he did here.

Wizard World Comic Con Is Upon Us

Wizard World Philly Comic Con

First, I have never in my collecting years attended a comic con but they are a huge marketing force that puts comic book collecting in the forefront. Now that Iron Man has come out in the movies, one of the incentives that this convention is handing out (to those who purchase tickets in advance) is a Invincible Iron Man #1 Exclusive Joe Quesada Sketch Cover.
Invincible Iron Man #1 Exclusive Joe Quesada Sketch Cover

If you are planning on going to the Philly Comic Con(vention) than grab your advanced tickets so you can grab this baby! Typically, Exclusives from a popular comic name (i.e. Joe Quesada) will grow in value – in a short period of time!

Why?

Because not everyone is going to have one and they won’t flood the marketplace. It’s that supply and demand thing. Remember also, this is riding on the heels of the Iron Man movie – which from reviews that I’ve read and feedback I have received – is a really good movie to go watch.

I was thinking about going to see the movie this past opening weekend, but I’ve decided to wait a little while when the crowds lessen. Any of you that have seen the movie, please leave comments to this post on your feedback and your thoughts on the movie (hey, I’m trying to get viewer interaction here, so you comments are appreciated).

That’s it for now. Have a great week.

P.S. Anyone think that Marvel should come out with an Avengers movie? Give me your thoughts by, yes, commenting to this post.
