Dear Comic Book Collector,
Did you know that you may possibly be sitting on a gold mine?
A gold mine you say – yes YOU – sitting on a gold mine. It’s simple my friend. If you are a comic book collector (you wouldn’t be at this page if you weren’t) and you send comic books in to be graded (to CGC or CGG), then you NEED to read this page.
We all know in the “comic collector world” that in order to make some good money (that’s cold hard cash, moola, greenbacks – you get the point!) with graded comic books, you need to have the higher grades.
A One Point Grade Jump Can Make A Huge Difference In The Sale Price!
The money difference between a CGC 9.6 graded comic and a CGC 9.8 graded comic can be multiple times your investment.
For example, if you had an Amazing Spiderman #200 in 9.6 it would probably sell for $60.00 retail, an CGC 9.8 Amazing Spiderman #200 would go for $260.00 (these number are based on real sales of this issue). Wow! that’s almost seven times the price of the 9.6, and if you come across a real gem and get a grade
of 9.9 – look out wallet!
Of course, we understand, that many collectors are not interested in how much money their treasures can bring them, but want a higher-grade to add to their already great collection. So, if that’s you, you can benefit greatly from getting your books prepped too!
Is Your Comic Book CGC Worthy?
Many of you have probably examined your comics before sending them to CGC and found some imperfections, and then probably set them aside, thinking they wouldn’t amount to much as a CGC candidate. Although it is crucial that you have your comic books examined, it is more crucial
to have them cleaned and prepped before sending them out for grading.
By Fixing The Most Common Defects In Your Comic,
We Turn Your Dull Comic Into A High-Grade
Money Maker!
Yes, my collector friend, by solving the “common defects” problem, those comics you thought were only going to be reader copies, can now become a nice money maker and bulge your wallet or be a nice addition to your collection, thus making you smile from ear to ear.
What are those common defects, and what should you look for before sending off a comic to be graded?
I’m glad you asked, here are the “common defects” that can be corrected:
- Bumped corners,
- Stress along the spine,
- Small printers wrinkle,
- Ragged edges,
- Wrinkles and creases on inside pages, and
- Dirt.
It seems like a lot of defects, (and all of them could show up in your comic), to look for and fix before certification. Yes! That is true, but, let’s show you some hard proof that this works and I guarantee you won’t look back. How about a bumped corner – take a look at this picture which shows the bumped corner defect (and no skipping ahead, you need to see the horrible defect first before the results):
That’s a pretty good bump on that thar corner, don’t you think?
Many of you wouldn’t think that it could come out, thus putting this comic book in the “not recommend for certification” pile, or possibly set aside as a reader copy.
Well, feast your eyes on the results from prepping this comic, and it will amaze you!
Are you ready for the results?
Come on now, are really, really ready?
Ok, quit playing games with me!
Wait! Don’t go clicking off the page just yet because your growing impatient with me. A little anticipation never hurt anyone, has it?
Alright already….

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!
I said the same thing after I saw it too! Is that amazing or what?
A bumped corner often extends to every page in the book, but with our prepping service all these can be pressed to original condition, bringing the grade of your comic up significantly. A little bit of cleaning didn’t hurt this book either.
Speaking of cleaning, most dirty books can be cleaned to fresh looking condition, take a look at the pictures below which show the dirt (top picture) and the dirt cleaned up (bottom picture).
NOTE: Stains of any kind DO NOT come out, and thus CGC will put a max grade (typically) of 8.0-8.5 if your book has stains on it. So be sure to check and double-check for stains on the cover and inside pages.
Ok, here are the other examples that I mentioned in the above paragraph:
BEFORE:

AFTER:

Have you dropped your comic book on the floor or another hard surface, causing a bruise to your comic book like this one:
If you look at each defect as a demerit, and each demerit costing a point (16 pages + 2 covers = 18 demerit points) then this type of damage would bring a low
grade for your book!
Don’t settle for a 5.0-7.0 grade, instead, correct those defects and jump your grade significantly.
Now look at the amazing results from correcting the bruised comic:

18 demerit points…GONE!
It pleases the eyes, doesn’t it?
It looks like it came fresh from the stands.
for certification is an investment to bring better
grades for your books?
Ok, one more example, here is a comic book that had a “repeating defect” on the corner:
Before![]() |
After![]() |
These “Before” and “After” pictures tell it all. This shows you that we can take your book from a low-grade-throw-in-the-reader-pile to a high-grade-CGC-it-today-comic! Or maybe you just wanted it shaped up because you have a “love” for the comic itself. Whatever the reason we can help you “upgrade” your comic books to better condition then what they are in right now!
Now that you have been “illuminated” to what defects can be corrected, I would be doing you a dis-favor if I didn’t tell you what couldn’t be corrected. Also very critical in determining if your comic book is CGC worthy.
Let’s take a look at what these defects are:
Defects that cannot be corrected with our prep service:
- Chipped corners,
- Pieces missing,
- Broken ink,
- Scratches, and
- Stains of any kind.
Ok, now it’s time to send those comic books to us to get cleaned up – so you can slab them up and put it in a nice place to look at and admire, show it to your friends, or sell it off for a nice tidy profit!
