Hey comic collectors,

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as much as I’m enjoying my 4-day weekend. Weather has been real nice here in Michigan, although we did have a little rain today. Before I get to my main topic today, can you guess who is turning 40 on June 2nd?

Please guess who it is by leaving a comment to this post – I’m really interested in the answers that will be given. No hints though – sorry!

Ok, for those of you who have been following my site and what information I’ve been putting here, there is a link at the top of this page named “Back Issue Picks” which is a page that gives you picks of comic books that are under the radar and/or will be on the rise because of the comic book movies coming out.

The back issue picks page has been updated with some new comic books to keep an eye out for.

Why would you want to keep an eye out for them?

One reason is because if you buy these comic books before their prices hit a “high” you can either flip them for profit or grade them and increase your return on investment. I will be covering this more in my review of Sean Jones’ Movies, Comics and Cash program. I’ll give you the link to his site once my review is complete.

In the meantime, before you have to venture back to work, check out the back issue picks for some gems to add to your collection.

Happy collecting.

Indy, as he was called in the movies, liked to wield his whip quite a lot as he ventured to find the lost treasures of the world.

For those of you who enjoy “whip crackin”, you can view this tutorial on how you can improve that specialty.

May 22nd is approaching and a new movie is coming out featuring… You guessed it – Harrison Ford in the latest of the Jones’ movies called “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. This is probably not going to be as popular as the Iron Man movie is (anyone who has seen this, put a comment on this post whether you liked it or not), but for those who enjoyed the original movies and comic books will “most” likely enjoy this one.

Give me your thoughts on this new “Indiana” movie…

Do you think you will enjoy more of Indy crackin the bullwhip, running around in his leather jacket – and of course, laughing at his fear of snakes, while fighting off Nazis, mystics and some group of tribes?

Bring on those comments about what you think, as well as what you like or don’t like about the Indy empire. Thanks.

Iron Man is Marvels first take at a movie adaptation of a comic book and released exclusively by Paramount Pictures.

So, it “seems” that to the comic book collecting world that the 2008 Summer movies are starting off with a bang. Some inside news though (thanks to comicbooksecrets.com) – Iron Man is slotted for a second movie along with a variety of other comic book movies. Here is what is coming out in the next couple of years:

Iron Man 2 – slotted for April 10, 2010

Thor – June 4, 2010

The First Avenger: Captain America – May 6, 2011

The Avengers – July 2011

Why the highlighting of Avengers?

I asked a question at the end of my last post whether anyone thought that Marvel should come out with an Avengers movie – well it looks like I have the answer to my question. So, yes, it looks like Marvel has found another pot o’ gold in them thar movies, as long as Marvel Comics does just as well with those movies as they have done with Iron Man. Time will tell.

One more last surprise – it seems that there isn’t another X-Men movie coming out BUT there will be a Origins: Wolverine movie (slated for May 1, 2009) with none other than Hugh Jackman! You can read the interview he did here.

First, I have never in my collecting years attended a comic con but they are a huge marketing force that puts comic book collecting in the forefront. Now that Iron Man has come out in the movies, one of the incentives that this convention is handing out (to those who purchase tickets in advance) is a Invincible Iron Man #1 Exclusive Joe Quesada Sketch Cover.

If you are planning on going to the Philly Comic Con(vention) than grab your advanced tickets so you can grab this baby! Typically, Exclusives from a popular comic name (i.e. Joe Quesada) will grow in value – in a short period of time!

Why?

Because not everyone is going to have one and they won’t flood the marketplace. It’s that supply and demand thing. Remember also, this is riding on the heels of the Iron Man movie – which from reviews that I’ve read and feedback I have received – is a really good movie to go watch.

I was thinking about going to see the movie this past opening weekend, but I’ve decided to wait a little while when the crowds lessen. Any of you that have seen the movie, please leave comments to this post on your feedback and your thoughts on the movie (hey, I’m trying to get viewer interaction here, so you comments are appreciated).

That’s it for now. Have a great week.

P.S. Anyone think that Marvel should come out with an Avengers movie? Give me your thoughts by, yes, commenting to this post.

Note: Need to make a correction concerning my previous post. I mentioned that it would be a good time to pick up some early Iron Mans, as the movie will be coming out in a couple of months… Sorry, it’s coming out in early May and that’s only a week away. Sorry about the confusion.

Can certain comic books connected with movies skyrocket comic book values?

In short, yes! As of late the comic books which Marvel and DC have spun off movies from have made billions over the past few years – and you can profit from this by buying correctly those comic books which will rise due to a movie coming out.

This is an area of comic book collecting that is becoming more popular, especially since the comic industry has jumped head-first into making comic book movies. Last time I covered the new Iron Man movie. I believe this would be a good “back issue” pick to grab for your collection or sell on ebay. To see what issues you should buy or sell, go here.

Today I will talk, briefly about Hulk 2. If you haven’t seen the trailer (again, as I mentioned before, I don’t like to watch the trailers but I chose to do that for both movies coming out this summer to curb my curiosity) then check it out to the right.

If any of you watched the first Hulk movie – it was either a bomb for you or you really enjoyed it. Many believe the Ang Lee version was a disappointment. Hopefully Marvel/Hollywood got this one right and it will deliver the goods. I’m kinda gun-shy to tell you to pick up a couple of back-issue comics related to this movie – BUT I will anyways!

If you don’t know already, the Hulk 2 Movie is featuring Abomination. The appearance of this foe was in Tales to Astonish #90 and continued in #91. These would be the issues to pick up and or sell since the movie is based on them. Go for as high a grade as you can at the best price you can get it.

That’s it for now. Give me your comments of whether you’ve been using tactics like this or not.
